In the summer, the park resumes its nocturnes every Thursday from 22 June to 10 August with two dates, 6 July and 3 August, devoted to the Silent zoo. during which equipped with headphones playing DJ music, you can stroll through the park's alleys… in silence. On 31 October, the traditional Chill Day will be held for a special Halloween for scary animals. A tempting programme!
The Parc Zoologique de Paris, an animal kingdom in the heart of Paris
Far from the era when tigers and lions were kept as curiosities in microscopic cages, the new Parc Zoologique de Paris (formerly known as the Vincennes Zoo) is conceived around philosophies of animal welfare, conservation and preservation of biodiversity.
Visitors are immediately immersed into the animals’ natural environments. The zoo’s four-kilometre itinerary travels through five biozones – the Sahel-Sudan savannah; the rocky coast and pampas of Patagonia; the great European coniferous forests; the tropical climates of Guyana; and the ecosystem of Madagascar. In total, the zoo houses around 2,000 animals, from roughly 180 different species.
Alongside emblematic creatures like giraffes, wolves, lions and white rhinos, there are also lesser-known animals, including manatees and wolverines. Plus an exceptional array of endangered species, from the Madagascar Tree Boa to the scimitar-horned oryx and Grévy’s zebra – all of which allow you to take a world tour at the gateway to Paris.
Discoveries for all the senses
Put on glasses to see like a carnivore, walk barefoot on terrains similar to those in the enclosures… To complement your visit, the Paris Zoological Park offers twelve quirky and fun sensorial expériences that allow you to get closer to the animals, while learning at the same time.
Awaken your senses and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of each biozone through the sounds and smells specific to each ecosystem. The SenS'ationnels installations highlight the sensory capacities of different species according to their habitat: balance in pumas, infrasound in giraffes or vibrissae in sea lions.
And all year round, enjoy the activities offered for the whole family. Attend animal feeding sessions, follow the work of the trainers and discover the secrets of some of the species at the "Rendez-vous sauvages" (be careful, places are limited).
In terms of relaxation, the zoo includes a picnic area, two restaurants and four food stands, children’s pushchairs for hire and a souvenir shop.
Discover the Parc Zoologique de Paris through one of the treasure hunts in the Paris Region Adventures application specially designed for families and downloadable free of charge.
