Subject to lockdown in 2020, the FIAC returns to us in 2021 more exceptional than ever!
The International Contemporary Art Fair is making a comeback in 2021 by investing in the most prestigious sites of the capital, including the new Grand Palais Ephémère, located on the Champ-de-Mars with the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero for neighbours.
Under the vaults of this unique 10,000m² building designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, FIAC Galeries presents a selection made up of modern and contemporary art galleries among the most emblematic of the international scene. A privileged place to discover the best of French and international artistic creation from the modern masters of the early 20th century to the most emerging trends!
The largest French and international galleries
This 47th edition, eagerly awaited by collectors and enthusiasts from all over a world that has long been deprived of cultural events, brings together 160 galleries from 25 different countries. The most prestigious galleries on the French and international scene, including galleries Perrotin, Karsten Greve, Thaddaeus Ropac, Marian Goodmann, Gagosian, White Cube and Nathalie Obadia are present. This year, 32 new exhibitors are also making their debut, such as the Parisian gallery Christian Berst, specialist in Art Brut or Sies + Höke, based in Düsseldorf, as well as ten emerging galleries which benefit from financial assistance from the organiser for the payment for their stands.
Contemporary creation in the heart of Paris
As every year, this contemporary walk continues with FIAC Outside the Walls on Place Vendôme, which has been welcoming astonishing curator’s selections for 10 years now, like that of Paul McCarthy who caused a scandal a few years ago with his work “Tree” or that of Yayoi Kusama with her giant pumpkin in 2019. A curator’s selection which is available this year at the Eugène Delacroix museum where an artist is invited to surprise us with a work of his/her creation. This parenthesis continues at the Jardin des Tuileries, which for a weekend becomes the theatre for the erection of some twenty sculptures, installations and architectures. This artistic stroll in the open air and the works of art presented make the creative experience accessible to as many people as possible.
FIAC week is also an opportunity to discover the exceptional programme offered by the museums and cultural institutions of Paris for the start of the school year.
