Description
On 21 June, the longest day of the year, celebrate summer with the Fête de la Musique, a huge free public festival that has been filling Paris and the surrounding region with the sound of guitars and trumpets for over 40 years.
Whether in a concert hall, a bar, on a street corner or in a square, attend free concerts by amateur and professional musicians and enjoy a moment of sharing and friendship to the rhythm of all styles of music. From electro to rock, rap, classical and folk, rediscover the Paris region as you let the music carry you away. It's a great way to broaden your horizons and refresh your playlist!
Launched in 1982 by the Ministry of Culture, the Fête de la Musique has become an unmissable event for residents of the Paris region and visitors from around the world. In Île-de-France, the diversity of venues and artists reflects the cultural richness of the region. Concerts are organised in iconic venues such as Place de la République, Canal Saint-Martin and the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, as well as in lesser-known neighbourhoods, offering a great opportunity to discover new talent and new spaces.
A programme for all tastes
In the Paris Region, as elsewhere in France, the Fête de la Musique stands out for its eclecticism. The main stages welcome established artists, while smaller groups take over cafés, courtyards and village squares. Conservatories, music schools and local associations often join in the event, allowing amateur musicians to share their passion with the public.
On this day, public transport is often open all night so you can party the night away. This makes it easy for you to get around and enjoy this musical night to the full.
