Description

The Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration presents a collection of works of art, archival documents and life stories that tell the history of immigration in France from the 19th century to the present day.

The Galerie des Dons (the Donation Gallery), on the same floor as the permanent collections, presents family histories through narratives, photographs and personal items depicting migratory journeys

Temporary exhibition: Paris-Londres. Music Migrations (1962-1989) - From 12 March 2019 to 5 January 2020

From the beginning of the 1960s to the end of the 1980s, a variety of musical trends associated with migratory flows transformed Paris and London into multicultural capital cities. Paris-Londres. Music Migrations serves up an immersive, chronological journey across the three decades which were decisive in the musical history of Paris and London.

Paris-Londres. Music Migrations explores the dense and complex ties between migration, music, anti-racism struggles and political activism. The exhibition shows how several generations of immigrants in the two erstwhile colonial powers leveraged music to express their rights to equality, to claim their place in public discourse and to contribute to urban, economic and cultural transformations in both countries.
