Description

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is now one of the most important collections of
decorative arts in the world, divided into five chronological departments (Middle Ages/Renaissance, 17th/18th century, 19th century, Art Nouveau/Art Deco,
Modern/Contemporary) and seven thematic departments (graphic arts, jewellery,
toys, wallpapers, glass, fashion and textiles, advertising and graphics).

Since its creation, most of the collections have been made up of donations and bequests: such as gifts from Peyre, Guérin, Perrin, Maciet and Gould in the fields of furniture and cabinetry; gifts from Doisteau, Grandjean and Maciet in gold and silver wares; the **Fitzhenry, Maciet **and Metman ceramic donations; the 700 pieces of 19th century jewellery from the Vever collection; Doisteau's cane collection; the Chinese cloisonné collection from David David-Weill
