Description
From July 31 to August 16, 2026, France will host the European Aquatics Championships, a major event marking the centenary of this competition. Co-organized by the French Swimming Federation (FFN) and European Aquatics, these championships build on the legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and promise an unforgettable sporting spectacle.
An Olympic legacy and world-class facilities
The Greater Paris Metropolitan Olympic Aquatic Centre (CAOMGP), located in Saint-Denis, will be the heart of the competition. This iconic venue, which hosted artistic swimming, diving, and water polo events during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will once again welcome Europe’s elite athletes. Five disciplines will be featured: swimming, diving, artistic swimming, open water swimming, and high diving.
The open water and high diving events will take place in the very center of Paris, in the Seine, notably at Port Debilly and Grenelle Rive Gauche.
The last European Aquatics Championships held in France date back to 1987. This edition is therefore a unique opportunity to showcase French talent—such as Léon Marchand—and to reaffirm France’s position among the leading organizers of major international sporting events.
An event not to be missed
The 2026 European Aquatics Championships promise to be a highlight for aquatic sports enthusiasts, featuring world class performances and a vibrant atmosphere driven by the French public. After Léon Marchand’s achievements at the Paris 2024 Games and the 2025 World Championships in Singapore, these championships are shaping up to be another exceptional milestone for global swimming.
