Description

A vibrant, diverse and dynamic Amazon

The exhibition ‘AMAZÔNIA’ offers a unique insight into the **worlds of the Amazon, far removed from fixed representations of exotic nature. Designed in collaboration with indigenous artists and curators, it reveals a worldview based on transformation, relationships and continuity. Through founding myths, rituals, oral arts, body painting and sacred objects, visitors discover an Amazon where humans, animals, spirits and natural elements coexist in a living network of meanings. Far from a bygone era, these cultures bear witness to a creativity that is still very much alive, where beauty is combined with a responsibility to preserve the balance of the world.

Creating, resisting and imagining tomorrow

The exhibition highlights the vitality of indigenous peoples in the face of contemporary challenges. Their knowledge, rooted in the observation of nature, dreams and shamanic visions, adapts to climate change and engages in dialogue with Western science.

Committed works, immersive installations and contemporary creations – such as those by Rember Yahuarcani, Carlos Jacanamijoy and Uyra Sodoma – bear witness to a desire to pass on knowledge and a powerful imagination for thinking about other futures. By promoting indigenous voices, the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac invites us to rethink our relationship with living beings and to consider sustainable, sensitive and deeply human alternatives.

This exhibition is part of the Brazil-France Season 2025.
