Description
The Django Reinhardt Festival is a not-to-be-missed event for fans of gypsy jazz. Created in 1968, this festival is held every year at the end of June or beginning of July in Samois-sur-Seine and, since 2017, in the gardens of the château de Fontainebleau.
For the love of jazz
The festival pays tribute to Django Reinhardt, one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time, and celebrates gypsy jazz. Over the years, it has become a major event for musicians and jazz fans from all over the world.
The festival offers a rich and varied musical programme, with concerts by the big names in gypsy jazz as well as up-and-coming artists.
As well as the concerts, the festival offers a host of creative, leisure and artistic activities based around jazz, guitars and gypsy culture. These include workshops, exhibitions and meetings with the artists.
The enchanting setting of the château de Fontainebleau adds a unique dimension to this event, offering festival-goers an unforgettable musical and cultural experience.
2025 programme
The Django stage will feature artists such as Adi Oasis, who will enchant you with his ethereal voice; Marcus Miller, who needs no introduction; The Great Guitars, a perennial favourite with guitarists; Chucho Valdés, the living legend of Afro-Cuban jazz, and also Cécile McLorin Salvant, Thomas Dutronc, Samson Schmitt, Ayo, Kokoroko, Galactic, Salif Keita and the group Deluxe.
The Luthiers stage is a springboard for emerging gypsy jazz talent. Each year, a group is selected by a panel of professionals to receive the ‘Quai Son Prize’ and a day's recording time in the studio.
And in addition to these young talents, this year 2025 Edouard Pennes, the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, Mathilde Febrer, Jermaine Landsberger accompanied by trumpeter Stéphane Belmondo, The Grand Django Affair, Arat Kilo & Mamani Keïta and many others will set the Luthiers stage alight.
