Description

A 2026 edition focused on the Sun

Organised by the French Astronomy Association, the Night of the Stars takes place from 7 to 9 August 2026 across France, with hundreds of free events. This 36th edition highlights a fascinating theme: the Sun, at the heart of the observations and educational activities.

Solar eruptions, auroras and the evolution of the solar corona will fuel exchanges between amateur astronomers and curious visitors. These evenings are also an opportunity to observe the Milky Way, the summer constellations and the first Perseid shooting stars, whose activity peaks around mid-August.
But the 2026 edition takes on an exceptional dimension. It marks the countdown to the solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, which will be visible in France in a partial and spectacular way. A rare event that extends the experience.

Where can you enjoy the Night of the Stars in the Paris Region?

Paris and its region offer many opportunities to admire the sky. Associations and scientific institutions organise observations, workshops and talks for all ages.

Among the must-visit sites, the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace at Le Bourget opens its doors at night for an immersive experience combining sky observation, activities and access to its collections. In the Yvelines, the Domaine royal de Marly offers evenings dedicated to astronomy and the history of eclipses. In Essonne, the Domaine départemental de Méréville also hosts supervised observation sessions.
Other venues such as the Uranoscope of the Paris Region, Parisian parks and even some urban rooftops are also taking part in this summer programme, offering everyone moments of contemplation.

Combining learning, wonder and conviviality, the Night of the Stars 2026 is shaping up to be a must-attend event. An invitation to slow down, look up and reconnect with the beauty of the summer sky.
