Description
If you're passionate about art and jewellery, don't miss the exhibition "Jewellery designs. The secrets of creation ‘ at the Petit Palais in Paris. This exceptional exhibition, open from 1 April to 20 July 2025, invites you to plunge into the fascinating world of jewellery drawings, revealing for the first time the wealth of this unique collection.
The art of fine jewellery
The Petit Palais, famous for its exhibitions of graphic art, is unveiling a selection of jewellery designs spanning more than a century of creation, from the second half of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. You will have the opportunity to discover works by renowned designers such as Pierre-Georges Deraisme and Charles Jacqueau, as well as prestigious houses such as Boucheron, Cartier, Rouvenat and Vever.
Unique craftsmanship
The exhibition is organised into four captivating sections, each offering a unique insight into the different stages of jewellery creation. You'll be able to admire quick sketches, 1:1 scale final drawings in colour, and gouache drawings highlighting Art nouveau and Art deco. A video produced at the Haute École de Joaillerie will also allow you to discover the precise and timeless gestures of the gouache artists, revealing the beauty and mastery of their savoir-faire.
The collaboration between the various trades involved in the creation of jewellery is also highlighted. Designers, modellers, engravers, chisellers, enamellers, jewellers, setters, threaders and polishers work together to bring these precious works of art to life. You will admire drawings alongside the finished jewels, some of which come from the collections of the Petit Palais, such as "Le Pendentif Sycomore “ (1910) or ”La Bague insectes ’ (1903) by Georges Fouquet.
To complete your visit, a selection of rarely exhibited jewellery from the collections of the Petit Palais is presented alongside portraits of elegant women, offering an enchanting dialogue between paper and metal.
Art reveals itself in the Paris Region's exhibitions.
