- Lantern Festival: Japan in Lights
Description
At the Bois de Boulogne, the end of the year promises to be sparkling once again. When winter envelops Paris in its gentle darkness, the Jardin d'Acclimatation lights up for its third edition of the Lantern Festival. Entitled Le Japon en Lumières (Japan in Lights), this enchanting event offers a nocturnal stroll through 2,000 sculpted and colourful lanterns, recounting a thousand years of Japanese history and legends. From Kyoto to Tokyo, visitors pass through three worlds: the Empire of Traditions, the Pop-Modern Odyssey and the Garden of Dreams, each offering a unique facet of Japan, from Shinto temples and kawaii manga to cherry blossoms.
A magical outing for the whole family
Designed to delight young and old alike, this illuminated trail is a true sensory adventure. Children marvel at the fantastical creatures and immersive scenery, while parents savour the rich craftsmanship of the installations. At the end of the trail, an Asian and Parisian food court offers ramen, mochi, mulled wine and hot chocolate, allowing visitors to gently extend their journey. And for a breathtaking view of the illuminations, the 20-metre Ferris wheel promises a moment suspended above the rooftops of Paris.
An unmissable event in the Parisian winter calendar
Open every day* from 6pm to 9.30pm (*except Mondays and Tuesdays during school terms), the festival is part of the tradition of Paris's great illuminations. Japan in Lights is a cultural, fun and gourmet outing, ideal for families in search of winter magic. An invitation to travel, without leaving Paris, in one of the capital's most beautiful settings.
The light trails enchant Paris and its region as the festive season fast approaches.
