Description
Built in 1635 by a rich Italian financier, close to Marie de Médicis, the castle of Auvers-sur-Oise was immortalised in 1890 by Van Gogh in his painting “Landscape with the Château of Auvers at Sunset.” Behind its classical façade, the building reconstructs the Impressionist era in a pedagogical and engaging way in a new multimedia circuit "The Impressionist Vision, Its Origins and Heritage". This immersive and sensory experience invites you to bury yourself in the history of the artistic movement, from its inspirations to its influences on movements such as Cubism.
Articulated around art and the effervescent atmosphere of the time, the eight sequences of this circuit present video and sound projections, filled with testimonies from famous Impressionist painters (Cézanne, Pissarro, Monet) and their heirs (Gogh, Gauguin, Seurat …).
Then walk outside and admire the building, the park and its Italian gardens. In fine weather, enjoy the view over the village. Before leaving, head for the restaurant Le Nymphee, whose terrace is very popular in summer. A few steps away, the Auberge Ravoux, the Musée Daubigny and the Maison Atelier de Daubigny are other stops in your discovery of Auvers-sur-Oise.
Discover the Château d’Auvers-sur-Oise through one of the treasure hunts in the Paris Region Adventures application specially designed for families and downloadable free of charge.
