The must-do of parks in Paris Region
Paris and the surrounding area are home to some of the most famous theme parks in the world. If someone says to you it’s a small world, maybe it’s because you’re in Disneyland Paris! Boasting some 10 million visitors per year, this is a flagship among theme parks in the entire Île-de-France region. Inside, you’ll find: 2 parks, 59 attractions and 7 hotels. More than just a theme park, Disneyland Paris is an entire town that makes the whole family’s dreams come true.
In addition to the two parks, Disneyland and Disney Studios, the site also features a village with shops, restaurants and all sorts of fun activities that plunge you into the fantasy world of Mickey Mouse and his friends. Why not take a ride in the PanoraMagique tethered balloon for a bird’s-eye view of the park?
Amusement parks and gardens
The Paris Region’s amusement parks invite you to try a unique experience, an adventure of a different kind. At the park of La Villette and La Géode embark on a virtual voyage. The family-friendly programme invites you to explore the wonders of nature and its fascinating wildlife and flora, and discover the unique natural phenomena of planet Earth.
And if you thought you had to get out of Paris to visit a theme park, think again! The Jardin d’Acclimatation may be the only theme park in Paris, but it also happens to be the oldest in France. Created more than 160 years ago by Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie, the site covers 18-hectares of gardens and play areas. For decades, it has been a favourite place for family outings.

If you’re interested in the history of France, visit France Miniature. At this outstanding amusement park you can see miniature versions of the architectural wonders of France. The perfect place to spend quality time with the family, through an educational visit that’s also lots of fun. At these recreational parks designed to offer an enjoyable way of learning and discovering new things, every visit is a memorable one.
Do your children have a thirst for adventure and dream of living on a desert island like Robinson Crusoe? Then take them to the Île de Robinson indoor amusement park at Montreuil on the outskirts of Paris. This is an ideal excursion for families with children aged 4 to 12 years. Their adventure begins in a replica of the city of York, Robinson’s fictional departure point, where children can play various roles, such as a teacher, a doctor or a blacksmith. This little scaled-down town is full of secret passageways for them to explore.
The little adventurers can then take to the high-ropes trail, sail around Robinson’s island and shoot ball guns to defend their territory. The island also has various wooden play features and exhibitions that will get the whole family involved in the fun and educational activities.
Visit the less famous parks of Paris Region
Beyond the major attractions, Île-de-France is packed with parks that are less well-known but just as fascinating.
The Tête dans les Nuages park is a perfect example. With around 130 activities, some of which are unique in France, this games park is a great place to spend quality time with your family or friends. Between sporting challenges, shooting games, 3D and 4D experiences and exhilarating races, you’ll be spoilt for choice to keep everyone entertained.
Beyond the attractions, make the most of all the leisure activities available at the Paris Region’s amusement parks
The amusement parks of Île-de-France have much more to offer than just a few rides. Each is a whole universe where you can spend an afternoon, a whole day or even longer.
At Disneyland Paris, for example, visitors can join the interactive workshops, meet the Disney characters and watch live shows. The magic of Disney isn’t just about the rides, because there are also parades and fireworks that light up the sky every evening. A festive atmosphere every time!
In addition to the rides, games and activities of every kind, the Paris Region’s amusement parks also have a variety of restaurants where you can try dishes from all over the world. From fast food to fine dining, every park serves meals in line with its specific theme. This is part and parcel of the theme park experience and should not be missed.
The parks also have a multitude of shops where you can purchase gifts and souvenirs. These outlets often follow a theme in their derivative products ranging from clothing to accessories and exclusive collector items.
Last but not least, the parks promise to offer a complete experience and this is reflected in their efforts to host special events throughout the year. Their Halloween parties, Christmas celebrations and Easter egg hunts are all designed to make your experience even more fabulous and give you a good reason to come back.
For a successful family holiday, plan ahead for your theme park trip
You might be tempted at the last minute to spend the day or a whole holiday at a theme park. But we highly recommend you plan ahead. Be aware that many of the Paris Region’s amusement parks do not stay open all year round.
So check the opening times when planning your trip and, if possible, purchase your tickets well beforehand, especially for the most popular parks like Disneyland Paris. Many parks do great deals for online bookers and sell fast passes to help you avoid long queues. This is a good way to enjoy an action-packed day without the stress.
Also, keep an eye out for seasonal festivities (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) and theme parties that bring a unique atmosphere to each park. These events are ideal opportunities to see the parks in a different light.
