The Moonwalkers. A journey with Tom Hanks

Since 24 September 2025, the Atelier des Lumières in Paris has been transformed into a spaceship to host ‘The Moonwalkers. A journey with Tom Hanks’, a unique creation born from a partnership between Culturespaces and London-based studio Lightroom. After a triumphant run in London, this experience is coming to France to bring to life the fascinating history of the lunar conquest, from the Apollo missions to the future Artemis expeditions.

Tom Hanks, a passionate narrator

An iconic actor and space exploration enthusiast, Tom Hanks lends his voice (in the French version) to this immersive narrative, which he co-wrote with British author Christopher Riley. From his childhood memories to his memorable roles in Apollo 13 and From the Earth to the Moon, Hanks emotionally embodies this extraordinary human adventure.

A total immersion in archives and visual art

Thanks to monumental projections, a cinematic soundtrack by Anne Nikitin and archive images restored by Andy Saunders, you will be immersed in the great moments of space history. The exhibition combines documentary rigour with visual poetry, offering a unique perspective on the first steps on the Moon, lunar landscapes and testimonies from astronauts in the Artemis programme.

A tribute to humanity and its dreams

Beyond technological prowess, ‘Destination Moon’ celebrates human audacity. From the family photo left on the lunar surface by Charlie Duke to the contemplation of Earth from space, each scene invites us to reflect on our place in the universe. The exhibition thus becomes a vibrant tribute to those who walked on the Moon — and to those who dream of returning there.
