L’Atelier des Lumières

Created by Culturespaces, the Atelier des Lumières is an immersive art centre located in the city’s 11th arrondissement. Here, paintings and other artworks are transformed into a digital feast for the senses. Open to all, the Atelier des Lumières, like certain exhibitions for children, is an experience nobody should miss.

A converted foundry

The Atelier des Lumières occupies the old Chemin-Vert steel foundry. Rediscovered in 2013, the site was refurbished and eventually opened in 2018. This highly original museum quickly became a key attraction for visitors from across the world.

Driven by its determination to spread culture far and wide, the Atelier creates immersive exhibitions featuring the greatest artworks of all time. The tour covers various rooms: Halle, a 1,500 m² space to wander around, Citerne and Tour des Miroirs, to admire the displays from different angles. There’s also a children’s section, the Atelier des Enfants, where budding artists can express their talent, and an educational space where they’ll learn more about the exhibited artists.

The 100% digital art experience

The experience goes beyond the traditional museum tour. The artworks are not just displayed, they are brought to life by music. The walls and floors are flooded with images from 140 projectors and the 50 loudspeakers add to the sense of total immersion. You’ll be drawn right into the paintings as you wander freely around the site. Since it opened, the Atelier has breathed life into the worlds of Klimt, Cézanne, Dalí and even the Little Prince.
