The Broken Arm Paris
It all began with a prophetically named website – Des jeunes gens modernes or "Modern Young Things" – which questioned all aspects of modern creativity: music, fashion, food, etc. In 2013, three members of the collective – Anaïs Lafarge, Romain Joste and Guillaume Steinmetz – set up this boutique-café, which aims to put creativity at the heart of everyday life.
It is hard to imagine a more contemporary space, with its minimalist décor, its ultra-healthy selection of snacks and refreshments and, above all, its lovingly selected range of men's and women's clothing by designers as significant as Jacquemus, Maison Margiela, Comme des Garçons, Lemaire, Isaac Reina, Affix, Stone Island and Raf Simons.
A wardrobe for “modern young things” if ever there was one! Its name, The Broken Arm, is a nod to a ready-made by Marcel Duchamp, kept at MoMA in New York. The piece, which consists of a snow shovel, is entitled "In Advance of the Broken Arm". Obviously, the managing trio believe in the virtues of pre-emption!
