Description

Once upon a time, there was Siegfried, a young prince of marrying age who fell madly in love with the beautiful Odette. Victim of a spell cast by the sorcerer Rothbart, the beautiful princess takes on the appearance of a white swan during the day before regaining her human appearance at nightfall.

Swan Lake, a legendary ballet

By tackling this masterpiece of the Ballets Russes imagined in the 19th century by the composer Tchaikovsky, certainly the most famous ballet in the history of classical dance, Angelin Preljocaj provides the 26 dancers of the Ballet Preljocaj with a real artistic challenge.

After Romeo and Juliet and Snow White, Angelin Preljocaj gives us a very personal version of this emblematic ballet, which had dazzled him during his childhood, by revisiting the original story and choreography with the modernity and originality that characterise it.

Definitely anchored in the 21st century, the swans are here threatened by pollution and global warming, by the darkness of the world of finance and oil as opposed to the beauty of nature. The music by Tchaikovsky mingles with electronic music, and the projection of dark videos on the stage of the Royal Opera of the Palace of Versailles remind us that, even though it has been revisited, this story unfortunately still ends badly.

A very contemporary version of a timeless ballet not to be missed during the holiday season!
