Thoiry Lumières Sauvages

For 8 years now, in the run-up to Christmas and the festive season, curious giant colourful animals have been invading the gardens of château de Thoiry and the labyrinthe at Wow Safari Thoiry.

An enchanted journey into the heart of spirits

For its 2025-2026 edition, the Thoiry estate will be decked out in a thousand lights for its Thoiry Lumières Sauvages event, from 17 October 2025 to 8 March 2026. This year, the famous animal park and its gardens will be transformed into a dreamlike world with a brand new theme: ‘Le Bal des Esprits’ (The Ball of Spirits), an invitation to explore the rituals, legends and beliefs that unite the living with their ancestors across cultures around the world.

An enchanted experience

As soon as night falls, the 2,500 illuminated sculptures, entirely handmade and covered in silk, light up to create a magical atmosphere. The sculptures, inspired by funeral traditions and universal myths, create a dialogue between nature and spirituality. The trees, ponds and buildings of the estate become the backdrop for a visual and auditory spectacle, where every step reveals a new surprise.

A magical night in the heart of nature

To respect the animals and their way of life, the Lumières Sauvages tour takes place away from the zoo. Make the most of your visit to get to know the animals of the zoo and the safari before embarking on your illuminated escapade as soon as night falls. And for an even more complete experience, reserve your den and spend a night watching the bears and wolves evolve right next to you. An unforgettable experience for all the family!

As well as being spectacular, the event makes a point of minimising its environmental impact. Thanks to the use of more than 20,000 new-generation LED bulbs, Thoiry Lumières Sauvages is able to offer intense luminosity while controlling its energy consumption.
