Description
Come and discover the Rambouillet national forest located just 40 kilometres from Paris and whose history is linked to that of French kings, from Pepin the Short to Louis XIV. Covering nearly 14,000 hectares with numerous paths for hiking, horse riding and cycling, as well as lakes, heathland and forest area, it's ideal for recharging your batteries.
Oak and pine trees dominate the landscape, part of which is located in the Regional Natural Park of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse.
For an outing with the whole family, visit the Espace Rambouillet and its "Green Odyssey" trail to immerse yourself in the Rambouillet forest and observe its inhabitants. The Bergerie nationale (national sheepfold) is a fun place to visit and holds participatory workshops with farm animals.
For culture lovers, combine your visit of the forest with a trip to the historic sites of the city, such as château de Rambouillet, the shell cottage, and Queen Marie-Antoinette's dairy.
