Description
Founded in 2001, Mains d’Œuvres is dedicated to promoting performing arts, visual arts, music, and social initiatives.
Based in the heart of Saint-Ouen, not far from the Puces, Mains d’Œuvres plays a crucial role in the local dynamic. In collaboration with local associations, schools, and institutions, it develops projects designed to strengthen social ties and foster inclusion. Art workshops for young people, music and dance classes, and solidarity initiatives are just some examples of its positive impact on the neighborhood.
A space for artistic creation
One of Mains d’Œuvres’ main strengths lies in its ability to provide artists with a place to work and a venue to showcase their work. With its 4,000 square meters of facilities, the center includes workshops, music studios, rehearsal rooms, and performance spaces.
This infrastructure enables artists from a wide range of disciplines to work, experiment, and produce original works. Artist residencies provide a setting conducive to creation and innovation.
A space to learn and train
Mains d’Œuvres is not only a place for artistic creation; it is also a space for learning and training. The École des Possibles, the center’s flagship initiative, offers innovative educational pathways tailored to all audiences. It provides workshops, courses, and training programs in various fields such as visual arts, music, theater, and dance. The goal is to make art and culture accessible to everyone, especially young people and those who are far removed from artistic practices.
At the same time, the center develops a wide range of professional training programs (Qualiopi-certified) aimed at artists, technicians, cultural managers, and also anyone who is curious. These programs are designed to strengthen participants’ technical, artistic, and administrative skills, enabling them to better meet the demands of the cultural sector.
In collaboration with recognized professionals, these programs cover a variety of topics such as an introduction to the trade of carpentry, screen printing, project management, as well as mastery of Photoshop and Indesign.
An eclectic and committed program
The program is rich and varied, reflecting its desire to break down barriers between genres and promote cultural diversity. You’ll find contemporary dance performances, alternative music concerts, contemporary art exhibitions, and independent film screenings.
These events attract a diverse audience eager for discovery and new artistic experiences. In addition, Mains d’Œuvres stands out for its social and political commitment, hosting debates, conferences, and civic workshops that address current issues and matters of general interest.
The Saint-Ouen canteen
A place for exchange in its own right, Mains d’Œuvres also has a canteen. People gather here to talk, but also to eat. You can have lunch at midday, enjoy a drink or a coffee, or grab a bite during events.
This space is open to everyone, whether they are members of the Mains d’Œuvres team and residents or outside visitors—whether from Saint-Ouen or elsewhere, just passing through or from the neighborhood.
