Description
Jòia means ‘joy’ in Occitan: a profession of faith for Hélène Darroze, renowned ambassador of South-West French cuisine. Born into a family of restaurateurs in Mont-de-Marsan, the small capital of foie gras and duck breast, the chef has brought the proverbial generosity of Landes cuisine to European heights through two renowned restaurants, one in Paris (rue d'Assas, Left Bank) and the other in London. The chef has once again made headlines by opening, this time on the right bank of Paris, a few minutes from the bustle of rue Etienne Marcel and the [Les Halles district, a restaurant close to her heart where, she says, she wants to cook "for her family and friends ".
Culinary fusion of tradition and travel
The Jòia menu reflects the chef's personality: generous and cosmopolitan. Grandmother's recipes rub shoulders with inspirations from London, New York and Italy. Guests can enjoy iconic dishes such as Spanish-style roasted hake from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, pumpkin gnocchi, and the famous guacamole, which you can prepare yourself. For foodies, the Sunday brunch is a must, as are the signature desserts such as baba or pavlova with seasonal fruits.
A chic and relaxed setting
Jòia charms with its unique atmosphere: wood, velvet and colourful touches create an elegant yet understated décor. On the ground floor, an open kitchen invites guests to come together, while upstairs there is a cosy lounge with a library and fireplace, ideal for extending the evening with a cocktail.
