Description

Offering a real link between the 19th and 21st centuries, discover Hangar Y, the new cultural and events venue in western Paris!
Located on the edge of 10 hectares of forest in Meudon alongside the Chalais pool, designed by Le Nôtre in 1659, this former airship hangar, the first in the world, is a remnant from the Universal Exhibition of 1878 and a reminder of the Paris Region’s industrial past.
After having lain abandoned for many years, this massive building has been completely renovated to serve as a focal point for art and science, nature and gastronomy. It’s a huge project!

Hangar Y, a vast space open to all

Flight, air, ecology, marine ecosystems, the dream of travel, the conquest of space, the living world, the world of tomorrow, new technologies, innovations and great discoveries will no longer hold any secrets for you! By discovering “Flying machines in the air”, the opening exhibition in the great hall of this Eiffel-type hangar, **, during fun and educational workshops in an adjoining building, or during “The Saga of Hangar Y”, an interactive mixed reality experience that retraces the site’s glory days, from the design of the airship La France to its first launch on 9 August 1884, come along with your family to enjoy a rich and stimulating experience combining history and modernity, technical prowess, art and sublime nature. And stop off for a mouth-watering break in the great hall before visiting the bookshop. The Café is open at weekends and during the school holidays, from 10 am to 10 pm in summer and from 10 am to 8 pm in winter (accessible without an admission ticket).

An artistic walk in the grounds of Hangar Y

Your discovery continues in the grounds where you can admire the works of the greatest contemporary artists from Christian Boltanski to Ugo Rondinone, Subodh Gupta or Kiki Smith. An exclusive sound design experience accompanies you on this artistic open-air stroll, to really awaken all your senses. Allow yourself be won over by the tranquillity of this outstanding site. A children’s playground, benches and picnic tables have been installed in the grounds, as an added incentive to linger.

Les Roseaux, the bistronomic restaurant at Hangar Y

If you wish to continue your multi-sensory discovery of the premises, the bistronomic restaurant Les Roseaux, located in an adjoining building, invites you to enjoy culinary creativity and indulgence. This restaurant, where modernity rhymes with conviviality, seduces with its refined cuisine and fresh, seasonal produce, enhanced by chefs Laura Portelli and Christophe Saintagne. With its delicious dishes and bright setting, every meal becomes a sensory experience. The restaurant is open for lunch from Wednesday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 14:30, and for brunch on Sundays and public holidays from 11:30 to 13:30 and from 13:45 to 16:00.
