BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir, Paris
Description
A future place of wonder and spirituality
In the town of Bussy-Saint-Georges, located between Paris and Disneyland Paris, an ambitious architectural and spiritual project is rising: the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir, Paris. Opening in September 2026, this temple is set to become an iconic landmark, a bridge between Indian and European cultures, and a beacon of peace for the region.
Led by BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha), the site, covering 5,000m², will combine a place of worship with a vibrant cultural space for the community. You will be able to explore the Mandir, dedicated to prayer and meditation, as well as the Haveli, a cultural centre offering insights into Hindu heritage, traditions, and values. Festivals and cultural events will be held throughout the year, welcoming visitors of all backgrounds.
Carved Indian stone, representing centuries-old traditions, is being used to create a unique architectural masterpiece. Domes, spires, and stone carvings—typical of Indian temples—will stand alongside landscaped elements and local materials, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. The project also reflects a close collaboration between French and Indian expertise, with architectural guidance from Arte Charpentier alongside the craftsmanship of Indian artisans and supporting engineering teams.
Blending Indian temple design with its French surroundings, BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir, Paris, is part of a broader vision to serve not only as a place of worship, but also as a centre for culture, education, and community engagement. It will join other major religious landmarks in the Paris Region, such as Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris on the Île de la Cité, the Grande Mosquée de Paris in the Latin Quarter, and the Khánh Anh Pagoda in Évry-Courcouronnes.
