Cirque du Soleil: a global artistic institution
Founded in 1984 in Quebec, Cirque du Soleil revolutionised the art of circus by incorporating theatre, dance, music and visual arts. Each show is an ode to creativity, where the virtuosity of the artists blends with enchanting worlds. With more than 40 productions to its credit, the company has captivated millions of spectators around the world, becoming a symbol of innovation and magic.
A classic reinvented
From 20 November 2025, Cirque du Soleil will be pitching its big top on Île des Impressionnistes in Chatou to present ‘Alegría – Un Nouveau Jour’, a reinvented version of its iconic show. Created in 1994 and having captivated more than 14 million spectators around the world, ‘Alegría’ returns to France for the first time in a modern production, combining breathtaking acrobatics, sumptuous costumes and an unforgettable soundtrack. The show, which will run until 4 January 2026, promises an immersive experience, ideal for families, couples or groups of friends in search of wonder.
Once again this year, Cirque du Soleil is setting up shop under its big top to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with the entire Paris Region. On the aptly named Ile des Impressionists, near the Maison Fournaise and not far from Paris, young and old alike are invited to experience the magic of the circus world.
A story between tradition and renewal
‘Alegría’ explores the struggle between the old order and the desire for change through a story rich in emotion and artistic performance. In a kingdom without a king, the characters embody resistance and hope, carried by breathtaking acrobatic acts and striking staging. The music, sets and mischievous humour of Cirque du Soleil make this show a must-see for the festive season.
