Weekend of re-enactments to meet Napoleon I
The château de Fontainebleau, for a weekend, takes you back in time to April 1814.
**Napoleon I abdicated on 4 and 6 April and Fontainebleau became the scene of the collapse of the First Empire. It was at the foot of the Horseshoe Staircase, one of the architectural jewels of the palace, that he gave his famous farewell speech to his old guard before leaving for exile on the island of Elba.
A life-size historical reconstruction
The 300 or so "re-enactors "** selected for the occasion, wearing high-quality costumes designed to respect historical models, bring this "great historical fresco" and history to life. Passionate, they magnificently embody a wide range of historical characters. Relive the great hours of the Château de Fontainebleau, which Napoleon loved so much, and stroll through the gardens as the sovereigns and courtiers did in their time.
A historical escape for a weekend that will delight young and old alike!
