Description

The Tours de Notre-Dame will finally reopen to the public on 20 September 2025, during European Heritage Days. Closed since the fire in 2019, they will now welcome visitors with a new immersive tour, designed to awaken the senses and inspire wonder. The tour begins at the foot of the south tower and offers a journey through the history of the cathedral via models, original chimeras and sound installations recalling the major events in French history.

A spectacular ascent

Climbing the 424 steps via a double spiral oak staircase designed especially for this tour takes you to the terrace at a height of 69 metres. From there, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of Paris and the restored spire of the cathedral. This exceptional viewpoint is enhanced by orientation tables to help visitors better appreciate the capital's iconic monuments. The descent crosses the courtyard of the cisterns and offers a unique glimpse of the framework nicknamed ‘the forest’, as well as an artistic sound experience in the north tower, designed in partnership with Noirlac Abbey.

A unique heritage experience

The visit lasts approximately fifty minutes and is self-guided, with no tour guide. To access the towers, online booking is mandatory, as there is no ticket office on site. The tour is not accessible to groups, except for school or medical-social groups, and requires good physical condition due to narrow passages and numerous steps. This long-awaited return marks a major milestone in the rebirth of Notre-Dame and offers visitors a unique heritage experience combining history, architecture and emotion.

Your visit continues with the monuments of the Paris Region.
