Description

From 13 December 2025 to 18 October 2026, the Palais Galliera is hosting a fascinating exhibition: Tisser, broder, sublimer. Les savoir-faire de la mode (Weaving, embroidering, embellishing. Fashion Craftsmanship). This first instalment of a trilogy devoted to fashion professions highlights textile ornamentation, revealing the techniques that enhance clothing and accessories. Embroidery, lace, trimmings, dyeing, and printing: every gesture and every thread tells a story of patience, precision, and passion. Through a rich and immersive journey, visitors discover how these skills have shaped Parisian elegance and contributed to making the capital a mecca for textile design.

Floral motifs, the exhibition's central theme

The flower, omnipresent in the decorative arts, becomes here the symbol of textile creativity. Endlessly reinterpreted since the 18th century, it spans eras and styles, embodying the delicacy and virtuosity of artisans. The exhibition explores this motif through ornamentation techniques, offering a poetic and sensory interpretation of fashion. Rare pieces from the Palais Galliera collections are displayed alongside creations from historic and contemporary fashion houses, as well as those of often overlooked but essential artisans.

This is a unique opportunity to celebrate the invisible hands that, behind the scenes, make French fashion shine.
