- The Mystery of Van Gogh's Roots
Description
In spring 2020, Wouter van der Veen, scientific director of the Van Gogh Institute, looked at a postcard from 1912 and realised he had discovered what had been sought for over 130 years: the place that inspired the painter's last painting: Roots.
This place, steeped in emotion and mystery, is now protected and open to the public. Walk in the painter's footsteps and relive his final creative moments.
In the footsteps of Van Gogh's last painting
The Van Gogh Roots association offers guided tours for an immersive experience of a natural site inextricably linked to the last painting by Van Gogh and also to the end of his life.
On the road that connected the village centre to the wheat fields, you can walk along a path that remained hidden for 130 years and has been opened to the public by the Association for the Preservation of the Van Gogh Roots Site. The walk through Van Gogh's woods is divided into eight stages, with eight information panels, the content of which has been validated by researchers from the Amsterdam Museum (Teio Meedendorp and Luis Van Tilborgh).
This is an opportunity to get a feel for Van Gogh's history. Like a journey back in time in the footsteps of the painter, you will walk through the wheat fields and narrow streets that inspired
