Description
“Plain, Simple, Useful" are the watchwords for Terence Conran, who oversaw a revolution in contemporary interior design after graduating from the prestigious Central School of Arts and Crafts (now Central St Martin's) in London.
His main feat of arms was founding the famous chain Habitat in 1964, with the aim – successfully achieved – of making style accessible to all. He continues that mission today through Conran Shops, positioned in a trendier, more avant-garde niche, as illustrated by the vast Paris store, created in 1992 in the old warehouses of the neighbouring Bon Marché.
Design classics, rising stars and pieces by Conran himself (the entrepreneur is still a designer too!) reinvent home design in a style as functional as it is aesthetic, with furniture, lighting, tableware and decorative objects, not to mention an array of unexpected gadgets that make great gift ideas. This Knight of the Realm certainly knows how to bring a touch of nobility to everyday life!
