Description

At the Mobilier National, the exhibition Sèvres, a Rothschild passion. From Paris to the Villa Ephrussi invites you to discover, until 26 July, a unique story that blends art, power and heritage. Through the Rothschild family’s fascination with Sèvres porcelain, from the iconic manufactory founded in the 18th century, a true European family saga unfolds.

Passionate collectors, the Rothschilds have amassed, from Paris to London, some of the most spectacular pieces from Sèvres: vases with bold shapes, precious objects with delicate decorations and vibrant colours. This passion, passed down from generation to generation, bears witness to a strong taste for excellence in craftsmanship and a refined art of living.

An immersive journey through masterpieces and reconstructed interiors

Designed to be an immersive experience, the exhibition unveils these treasures in a spectacular setting that combines artworks, previously unseen archives and reconstructed interiors. You will thus wander through the grand salons and Rothschild residences, where porcelain interacts with furniture, textiles and the decorative arts. Organised into several sections, the exhibition highlights the figure of Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, a great collector and central figure in this family passion. It also explores the turbulent history of these collections, from acquisitions and donations to museums to darker episodes linked to the looting of the 20th century.

A sensitive and rich exhibition that offers far more than a simple display of objects: a journey through time, at the heart of Rothschild taste and the European art of living.
