Exhibition Ticket - Van Gogh, The Starry Night and Yves Klein, Infinite Blue
Until 18/10/2023 / Atelier des Lumières
Description
For the first time since 2019, the Van Gogh exhibition returns to the Atelier des Lumières from 31 July to 27 August 2023, followed by a second part dedicated to Yves Klein in an exceptional retrospective!
For 50 minutes, the Atelier des Lumières offers space in its 1,500m² to celebrate the shining genius of Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) through an audacious staging that reflects his tumultuous, hectic but infinitely colourful life.
Although Van Gogh is revered, adulated and praised nowadays, it was not always the case. As a sensitive, tormented and misunderstood artist, he used art as a remedy for his sufferings, producing more than 2,000 paintings in the last years of his life.
The exhibition retraces the Dutch artist's wanderings through the key stages of his life and art, from his infancy to a powerful and expressive mastery of his painting.
While in Paris, he painted the fascinating "Potato Eaters". At Arles, the Mediterranean sun deeply inspired him, and the incomparable "Sunflowers" came to life. "Starry Night" emerged from the tormented mind of the painter while committed in an asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
Book your tickets now for this immersive exhibition, which will take you on a journey as chaotic and poetic as the artist's unparalleled talent!
Yves Klein, Infinite Blue exhibition
In the second part, for around ten minutes, immerse yourself in the infinite blue with Yves Klein, a major 20th-century artist who wanted to turn his life into a work of art.
His motto: " Painting is COLOUR". He aspired to individualise, liberate and magnify colour in its purest form. His famous IKB Blue (International Klein Blue) is the answer.
Through a selection of 90 paintings and 60 archive images, this exhibition invites you to a full immersion in substance and sensibility, accompanied by the musical ascents of Vivaldi and the electronic rhythm of Thylacine.
