Over the past few years, with its many events and stores, Paris Région has become a key destination for lovers of great design.
The big gatherings like the Maison & Objet trade fair and its fringe event Paris Design Week are proof of the widespread enthusiasm for this vibrant sector.

For ten days, from 9–18 September, the event brings the best of international design to Paris, showcasing well-known designers alongside emerging talents.

With secret venues, vernissages, galleries, showrooms, concept stores, meet’n’greets and exclusive workshops, this is a unique opportunity to rediscover the capital from the perspective of creation and design.

This year’s event will be split over 3 districts – Saint Germain-des-Prés, Opéra-Concorde-Etoile and Les Halles-Marais-Bastille – with each sector showcasing the discipline in its own way with a special night-time tour.

From Culture and architecture to gastronomy, in today’s world design has come out of the galleries and taken over stores, hotels, restaurants and even hospitals. Paris Design Week is a chance for you to discover the latest trends at a series of surprising celebrations.

This year 2022, Paris Design Week, along with Maison&Objet, has placed its edition under the sign of the Digital revolution. The theme of the year, "Meta Sensible", invites us to observe how the Metaverse could disrupt the aesthetics of contemporary design. As a counterpoint, the theme underlines a renewed interest in old skills, handiwork and "slow design", as a reassuring anchoring in real life. This reflection will serve as a red thread for a series of conferences orchestrated by the magazine Intramuros, which will be held from 8 to 11 September 2022 at the Espace Commines as part of the Paris Design Factory. The interventions of the experts gathered at the Café Intramuros will be broadcasted online. On Thursday 8 September, you will be able to listen to Marc Bayard, co-founder of Slow Made and scientific director of the Mobilier National, on the theme of "Innovating and enhancing the value of gesture, at the crossroads of art and design". Come and ask yourself about the increasingly frequent links between art and design, with representatives from the Carmignac Foundation, the Villa Albertine in the United States, Spaceless Galery and Collectible in Brussels. On the "sensitive" side, you will see how wood occupies a central place in today's design, as it is both a natural material and benefits from new technical possibilities. Sensitive also includes the conference "Japan, land of inspiration", where Villa Kujoyama has been inviting French designers to exchange ideas with craftsmen in Kyoto for thirty years. A principle that has inspired other cooperation programmes. On the "Meta" side, you will discover how the virtual world is changing the way architects and interior designers present their projects. Meta is also an evolving customer experience for brands: the website, the dedicated application, and now the foray into the Metaverse: are you ready?
