Musée de la Vie d'Autrefois
Description
Go to the Musée de la Vie d’Autrefois to travel back in time!
The Musée de la Vie d’Autrefois opened in October 2018. With “yesterday is precious” as its motto, its main aim is to instil in young people a love of the past, and of their heritage. Over 100 scenes from French day-to-day life are on display, drawing on an incredible collection of more than 60,000 tools, common artefacts and vehicles.
Explore over 3,500m² of homes, pharmacies, and the lives of tradesmen such as blacksmiths and coopers, as well as transport, bars, and even a witch’s den! As you travel through these scenes of our forefathers’ daily lives, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the livelihoods and beliefs that shaped society during the 19th and early 20th centuries. If you’d like your visit to include a liberal smattering of tasty anecdotes, then go for the guided tour!
For a different take on your journey through time, sit yourself down in the Chez Grand-Mère restaurant to enjoy some traditional fare made using carefully selected ingredients. As you eat, the exceptional view of an 18-metre replica of the Eiffel Tower reminds you that you are well and truly in the heart of the Paris Region.
