Description
At 23 Rue d'Antin, just a stone’s throw from the Palais Garnier, Mari Mari Kimbap is the latest haunt of fans of authentic Korean food. Created by Linda Lee, the lady behind On the Bab, this street-food counter gives pride of place to kimbap, the Korean roll that has nothing to envy of the Japanese maki.
Kimbap, the contraction of ‘kim’ (seaweed) and ‘bap’ (rice), is made from a thin layer of rice, cooked vegetables and other ingredients, all rolled up in a sheet of dried seaweed and sliced into bite-sized pieces. This flagship dish of Korean street food can be enjoyed on the premises or taken away.
Delights from Korea
At Mari Mari Kimbap, the menu features kimbap in a number of delicious dishes, served with kimchi and a small bowl of broth. You can try the traditional recipe with egg, carrot, radish, spinach and fish paste, or opt for the Bulgogi version containing a mix of marinaded beef, fish croquette, green leaves, carrot and radish. Vegetarians won’t be disappointed either, with two options specially for them, and the kimchi should satisfy those who enjoy spicy food.
To accompany these seaweed rolls, Mari Mari also serves the famous Toppoki, rice pasta in a spicy sauce, as well as vegetables, fish and chicken fried the Korean way. And if kimbap doesn’t tempt you, try deopbap, another traditional Korean dish containing rice, green salad, mayonnaise and the protein food of your choice.
If you have a sweet tooth, try the current mochi special.
Friendly atmosphere and elegant design
At Mari Mari Kimbap, the atmosphere is like the food: simple and authentic.
The refined style and open-plan kitchen remind you of the street-food restaurants found in Korea. For a snack on the go or a meal to savour, you’ll find just what you’re looking for here. A few
tables are available for those who want to eat on the spot. Otherwise, you can take your kimbap away with you.
