Maison des Arts de Châtillon
Description
The Maison des Arts adventure began in 1990 when the former home of Louis Hachette, now renamed the “Propriété Frémont” after its last owner, was bought by the city council. The vast walled garden, the presence of a building dating from the 15th century, and a manor house with a gallery made up of five adjoining rooms linking the two wings of a 17th century building, make this a venue suitable for exhibiting all kinds of works (paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, etc.).
An eclectic place, open to all
Through boldness and willpower, what was a brand-new venue has made a name for itself while maintaining its unique feature: an eclectic selection alternating between renowned artists and showcases for the less well-known, in a special and unique setting close to Paris. The charm of the building and the welcome provided to artists and the public alike make the Maison des Arts a warm and peaceful environment, conducive to artistic encounters and contemplation. Artists, art critics and gallery owners can regularly be found here for events.
