A major astronomy event in Paris

From 13 to 15 November 2026, the Rencontres du Ciel et de l’Espace return to the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie. A true institution since 1998, this biennial event has established itself as Europe’s largest gathering dedicated to astronomy, bringing together amateurs, curious visitors and professionals around a shared passion: understanding the Universe.
Co-organised by the Association Française d’Astronomie (AFA), these meetings perfectly embody the mission of this organisation, founded to share a passion for the sciences of the sky.

Over three days, more than 150 conferences, round tables, workshops and technical forums led by researchers, astrophysicists and recognised specialists will take place in Paris.
These talks explore major scientific questions: the origin of the Universe, space exploration, exoplanets and cosmology. In the amphitheatres of the Cité des sciences, speakers share their discoveries and make complex subjects accessible through clear, engaging explanations.

At the same time, an innovation-focused exhibition showcases the latest advances in space instrumentation and technologies, while activities and encounters offer a full immersion into the world of astronomy.

2026, a year marked by an exceptional eclipse

The 2026 edition takes place in a special context, with the solar eclipse of 12 August. Visible in France as a partial eclipse, it will obscure more than 90% of the Sun across a large part of the country, offering a rare and impressive spectacle.

This major astronomical event will inspire discussions and conferences during the meetings, helping visitors better understand celestial phenomena and their scientific significance.
