Description

On 11 June 2025, the Paris Region witnessed the birth of a miracle, the Palais des Enfants. Created by the Palais de la Découverte and GrandPalaisRMN, this new culture venue has everything going for it: immersive museography, exhibitions combining science and art, and a playfully educational approach. In the Grand Palais district, our little bundles of joy have found their new playground.

What’s the point of going to a museum if there’s nothing to do there?

It’s all happening beneath the rotunda of the Palais de la Découverte**! A few years ago, it was an underground car park and unloading area. Nowadays, the engine oil has yielded to paint tubes and test tubes, much to the delight of budding scientists and artists. Here, the imagination is stimulated, honed and nurtured by a whole host of events designed with children in mind. Coordinated by the exhibition curator, Sophie Radix, these children’s exhibitions are designed to embrace childhood, sparking curiosity and encouraging interaction.

Beyond the atypical, fun dimension, this museum for children fulfils a key mission: to familiarise younger visitors with the world of museums and culture centres, to teach them to observe and reflect, and to develop a critical mind. A haven of joy and discovery to be shared between generations.

Kids only

Just one condition: no children, no Palais! Because this museum is intended for (and ruled by) them, only kids aged 2 to 10 years (accompanied by an adult) are allowed to visit the Palais des Enfants. To help them explore, the site also provides, free of charge, kid-friendly accessories such as baby carriers, earmuffs and sunglasses. Babies and young parents are looked after too, with a nursery facility where they’ll find a bottle warmer and a breastfeeding chair, for a quiet break during their visit.

Insatiable young explorers, take note: your adventure continues beyond the walls of the Palais des Enfants. Activity booklets, podcasts and other digital resources are available for those who wish to learn more.

Unleash your imagination at the museums of the Paris Region.
