Le M. Musée du Vin
Description
You have heard of the village of Montmartre north of Paris with its vineyards, but do you know that one of the most beautiful tributes to the capital's and its region's wine-growing past is hidden just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower?
In the heart of Paris's 16th arrondissement, the M .Musée du Vin, a quite original museum, presents a permanent collection of over 2,000 objects, housed in the exceptional setting of the former Passy quarries.
The tour invites you to discover the wine trade, traditions and winemaking techniques. Permanent and temporary exhibitions reveal the secrets of grape varieties, terroirs and tasting rituals. A real immersion for wine lovers in Paris.
Wine tasting and sensory workshops
After your visit, extend the experience with a wine tasting in the museum's wine bar. Introductory tasting courses and oenology workshops are offered throughout the year, led by experts and sommeliers. And for food and wine pairings, head to ‘Le M’, the museum's restaurant, which offers delicious bistronomic cuisine every lunchtime ( booking required) from Tuesday to Saturday.
A place steeped in history
Housed in the former limestone quarries of Passy, the museum was once the cellars of the Minims. These cellars were used in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Brothers of the Order of Minimes of the Passy convent, who stored their wine there. They survived the centuries before being transformed into a museum in 1984 by the Conseil des Échansons de France, a brotherhood dedicated to promoting fine wines and French terroirs.
Your visit continues with the museums and cultural sites of Paris Region.
