- La Mode en Majesté. Royal Thai Dress from tradition to modernity
Description
The Museum of Decorative Arts invites you to discover the fascinating world of Thai fashion, where ancestral craftsmanship blends with innovation. Through more than 150 exceptional pieces – gold-embroidered court dresses, traditional silk costumes, and creations by contemporary Thai designers – the exhibition traces the evolution of a unique art of dress, deeply rooted in the country’s history and culture. The outfits worn by the royal family, as well as pieces designed for official ceremonies, bear witness to a heritage in which every detail and every motif tells a story.
Silk, gold and boldness: when Thailand inspires haute couture
The exhibition highlights Thailand’s influence on the international stage through collaborations between local artisans and leading fashion houses. Creations by Thai designers, as well as pieces inspired by the kingdom and designed by Western fashion designers, illustrate this fruitful dialogue between cultures. You’ll be able to admire dresses enhanced by traditional dyeing and embroidery techniques, as well as exceptional accessories where modernity blends with tradition. A spellbinding journey into a world where fashion becomes a universal language.
