With its pearly white façade, immaculate walls and tables, wide windows, light-coloured floorboards and large mirrors, this place is flooded with light and exudes a feeling of purity that is the perfect match for its natural philosophy, echoed in its myriad green plants. Nothing remains of the local butcher’s shop whose premises the Abattoir Végétal, somewhat ironically, now occupies.
Unabashedly militant in its commitment to organic, additive-free, gluten-free food (barring the occasional exception), the menu shows no mercy with fruit and vegetables, which give all they’ve got. You can start with bread spread with blue “cheese”, follow that up with the house speciality, the Funky Burger (with a falafel steak, vegan cheddar and vegetable-based mayonnaise), and finish with the clementine soup with rosemary and fresh mint.
During the day, the restaurant doubles as a coffee-shop, where you can recharge your batteries with a smoothie or a freshly squeezed fruit juice, be it inside or on the pleasantly shady terrace…
