Description
Lovers of Scottish links, as well as target golf fans, should head to the Golf de la Vaucouleurs, where you can enjoy different types of golf without ever leaving the domain. Opened in 1987 and designed by the architect Michel Gayon, this modern course offers two highly varied 18-hole circuits and has been the site of numerous competitions.
As well as the two exceptional 18-hole circuits, the Golf du Pays Houdanais, juxtaposed with the Golf de la Vaucouleurs, offers two additional 9-hole courses: the Cascades and the 360. These compact pitch and putts will allow you to work on your precision.
Demanding terrain
With its elevated, wild roughs, the 18-hole links-type circuit Les Vallons demands a tight game. Its fairways, surrounded by hills and exposed to the wind, will require you to tackle numerous blind shots.
The Rivière circuit, which appears to have stepped right out of an Impressionist painting, offers a dramatic change of landscape. More technical and physically demanding than Les Vallons, this 18-hole course includes water obstacles, several bunkers and sloping greens that stretch down towards Vaucouleurs. The setting, while challenging, is also exquisite – don’t forget to look up to admire the splendid views from holes 3, 11 and 13.
At the heart of the domain, the Eden Green restaurant, set in a former farm, welcomes guests for a moment of relaxation in its large and comfortable, light-filled dining room, or its terrace boasting superb views over the course.
