“To combine the finesse of French cuisine with an ethical and ecological dimension”: that is the mission Deborah, Caroline and Alexandre Pivain have set for their business: a real family affair, which is no doubt part of the reason for its spirited activism and focus on sharing.

In fact, Gentle Gourmet is not just a restaurant, but also a training institution, delivering vegan cookery and patisserie classes to help spread its message. The restaurant is only open at the end of the week, for Friday night dinner (with a single set menu) and Saturday and Sunday brunch, when trainees may contribute to the fare on offer.

Made with hand-picked products, the dishes are quite the globetrotters! The aubergine teriyaki and stuffed piquillos with homemade vegan feta and yellow carrot mousseline with candied ginger and lemongrass is a recipe that straddles Japan and South America via the Mediterranean! Obviously, such an experience cannot be improvised, so make sure you book ahead!
