Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto
Chanel a name that the whole world envies, symbol of luxury and French know-how, a universe and a style that are truly timeless.
Reopening on 1 October after many months of extension work, the Palais Galliera, the Paris Fashion Museum, presents the first retrospective in France of a fashion designer and an exceptional woman on 1500m² of exhibition space: Gabrielle Chanel (1883-1971).
Coco Chanel, the fashion revolution
The350 iconic pieces from the Palais's collections, the Chanel heritage and also from the most prestigious museum and private collections retrace the major periods of her life in view of the evolution of morals and society.
Chronological, the first part evokes her beginnings with a few emblematic pieces, including the famous 1916 jersey sailor's jacket, while the second part, thematic, invites us to decipher her dress codes: a tweed braided tweed suit, two-tone pumps, quilted bag 2.55, in black and beige of course, but also in red, white and gold… not forgetting the fancy and high jewellery essential to Chanel's silhouette.
Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto, the exhibition to be noted in your diaries!
