Description

The ecomuseum works with local actors in the development of certain temporary exhibitions, which promote the results of research and collection work. The participation of the inhabitants in all phases of the creation of the suburban heritage is the condition for the success of the main objective of the ecomuseum: to be a local cultural facility at the service of the population.
The ecomuseum is interested in the way of life of the inhabitants of the suburbs from yesterday to today. It is with them and for them that it works to develop its actions.

Every year, it offers an annual exhibition in the large hall, and a programme of temporary exhibitions of shorter duration in the small hall, visits and discoveries of the territory, conferences, meetings, and entertainment.
The ecomuseum provides visitors with documentary resources and publications, and also proposes artistic practices that allow a new look at the territory.

The museum has been awarded the "Musée de France" label and as such preserves and promotes a collection of "everyday" objects.
A cultural mediation service develops actions to make the exhibitions, collections and themes dear to the museum accessible to as many people as possible by offering events, visits, workshops, meetings and shows. Individual visitors, families, school groups, extracurricular groups and adults can thus benefit from a free and adapted educational offer, from 4 to 104 years old.

The exhibitions deal with various themes related to life in the suburbs: urbanisation, work, television, immigration, the status of women, photography, architecture, gardens, etc.

Workshop for the senses, guided tours or an urban walk, discover a delightful programme on the ecomuseum website.
