Domaine Départemental de Montauger

Sandwiched between the urban areas in the north of the department and the rural areas of the south, the Domaine de Montauger is the “gateway” to the lower-valley marshlands of Essonne and the Juine. Spanning the towns of Lisses and Villabé, this estate is home to the Maison Départementale de l’Environnement, which stages varied events all year round (explorations of nature, exhibitions, workshops, naturalist courses, talks, etc.) on the topics of biodiversity, ecocitizenship, and sustainable and responsible development.

Fun and informative scientific exhibitions are held in the halls of the château. For keen ornithologists, two bird observatories are available in the heart of the wetland area.

You are free to roam the entirety of the 15 ha grounds, exploring the meadows, orchards and marshlands. In the shade of towering trees, revel in the varied scenery and ecological heritage of this tranquil, secluded park.
