Description
From 5 March to 25 August 2025, the Bourse de Commerce de Paris is hosting the exhibition "Corps et âmes ’, a fascinating exploration of the representation of the body in contemporary art.
Organised by the Collection Pinault, the exhibition brings together around one hundred works by some forty leading artists, including Auguste Rodin (/en/musee-rodin-paris), Duane Hanson, Georg Baselitz, Ana Mendieta, David Hammons, Marlene Dumas, Arthur Jafa and Ali Cherri…
Exploring the body and mind
This new exhibition at the Bourse de Commerce explores the relationship between body and mind through a variety of art media, including painting, sculpture, photography, video and drawing. The works presented question the way in which the human body is perceived, represented and reinvented in contemporary art.
Freed from all mimetic constraints, the body becomes a vehicle for expressing vital energies and the flow of thought and inner life.
A committed and humanist experience
Amidst the architectural curves of the building, you are invited to take part in a visual choreography in which the representations of bodies bear witness to the links between art and life.
The exhibition highlights themes such as violence, transcendence, the struggle for civil rights, feminism and anti-militarism. The works of Arthur Jafa, for example, oscillate between life and death, violence and transcendence, creating a visual melody inspired by gospel, jazz and black music, while the paintings of Georg Baselitz transform and deconstruct the human body into a rich field of experimentation.
As if to further immerse the public in this sensitive and humanist experience of otherness, the exhibition is accompanied by a rich cultural programme of performances, lectures and workshops open to all.
