Description
From 26 March to 2 August 2026, the Jacquemart-André Museum is presenting Baroque Splendors. From El Greco to Velázquez an exceptional exhibition devoted to Hispanic Baroque art. For the first time in France, nearly forty major works from the Hispanic Society of America will be on display in the museum's refined salons. Among them are iconic paintings by Velázquez, El Greco and Zurbarán, masters of the Golden Age.
An immersive journey into the heart of Spain's Golden Age
Exuberant, theatrical and deeply spiritual, Spanish Baroque is distinguished by its expressive intensity and powerful contrasts. Influenced by Italian and Flemish art, but also enriched by artistic exchanges with the Americas, this movement offers a remarkable wealth of themes. Lively portraits, vibrant religious scenes and luminous compositions are revealed throughout an intimate and elegant journey.
Masterpieces rarely seen in Europe
Founded in 1904, the Hispanic Society of America houses more than 750,000 pieces covering the artistic history of the Spanish-speaking world. Its collection, currently partly on tour, allows the Parisian public to admire works rarely shown in Europe. This exhibition is therefore a unique opportunity to contemplate these treasures outside of the permanent collections.
