Description
From 11 June to 21 September 2025, the Grand Palais in Paris is hosting a unique exhibition: *Art Brut’. It features more than 300 works from the collection of Bruno Decharme**, an enthusiast who has devoted 45 years of his life to discovering and bringing together artistic creations made outside the traditional circuits.
Art Brut: free and authentic expression
Outsider art is characterised by its spontaneous and authentic nature. The artists, often self-taught, create without concern for the conventions or expectations of the art world. Their works, produced in private and sometimes in secret, reveal a raw freedom of expression and boundless creativity.
The exhibition ‘Art Brut ’ is the fruit of Bruno Decharme's donation to the Centre Pompidou. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover works that are rarely exhibited, often discovered by chance or thanks to the involvement of friends and family of the artists. This collection is a real treasure trove for art lovers, offering a fascinating insight into the diversity and richness of art brut.
An immersive experience
The exhibition is not just about static works. It also offers a virtual reality experience inspired by the work of Henry Darger, an American artist who is emblematic of Art Brut. This immersive experience, accompanied by music composed by Philippe Cohen-Solal, allows visitors to literally plunge into the creative universe of these extraordinary artists.
Emotions run high at Paris Region's exhibitions.
