  1. What to see and do
  2. Getting active
  3. Hiking
  4. Archaeology trail in the Vexin Français

Description

This walking trail in the Vexin Français regional nature park has an archaeological theme. Starting from the Musée archéologique du Val d’Oise in Guiry-en-Vexin, alternate between forest paths and the charming streets of the villages of Genainvillle, Guiry-en-Vexin and Wy-dit-Joli-Village. Explore the history of this area to the north-west of Paris in a beautiful natural setting.

On the way, discover remains and sites dating from the prehistoric era to the Middle Ages. Don’t miss the allée couvert (gallery grave) from the neolithic period in the Bois de Morval, a tomb with Historic Monument status that offers an insight into the funeral rites of the period.

This 8-kilometre hike is easily accessible and suitable for families. A shorter variant and a car/bike route are also available.
