4 roues sous 1 parapluie
If France had to be boiled down to a few clichés, the 2CV would surely be among them, right along with the baguette and the Eiffel Tower. So what could be more typically Parisian than to explore the capital’s secrets aboard this mythic vehicle? Now, with 4 Roues Sous 1 Parapluie, (meaning 4 Wheels Under 1 Umbrella – the original brief for Citroen’s famous 2CV!) , you can hire a 2CV driver, complete with a cap and a stripy Breton top, who will drive you through Paris and stop wherever you wish: perfect for a romantic escape!
Eleven ways to see Paris
Settle comfortably in the back, then the motor will start to purr and your car will set off, roof down, across the cobbled streets. From the front seat, your guide will regale you with quirky anecdotes as, hair flying in the breeze, you admire eternal Paris and its sumptuous monuments streaming past: the Champs-Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe, Invalides, Notre-Dame, plus hidden passageways and soaring flights of stairs in bohemian Montmartre. In total, eleven different tours around Paris are on offer.
And if you want a change of air, the company can also take you for a princely four-hour escape to Chantilly, or a royal getaway to Saint-Germain-en-Laye or Versailles. Don’t want to leave the family behind? You can also hire a retro Citröen DS, which fits four passengers. Bon voyage!
